What does the picture of your life look like right now?
If you’re like me, there are parts of that picture where there’s a lot to be desired.
Thankfully life isn’t a picture. It’s a flip book.
Imagine with me a picture of a couple in a fight. Their backs are turned to each other, faces wrenched, bodies tense, heads down.

The relationship hangs in the balance. Maybe it’s even over, they’ve decided. You can feel the tension. Two immovable people, stuck in their ways, believing they are right. The gap between them so great that a future seems impossible.
A dark picture.
Thankfully life isn’t a picture, though…it’s a series of them…each one adding small movements.
Imagine just one change: The woman simply raises her head and looks over her shoulder at her partner, remembering everything she loves about him.
He’s still hurt and distant, so she looks away, but her body posture softens a bit and she starts thinking of better days. She sighs.
He hears that sigh, and it reminds him of the first time they sat together on the couch in each other’s arms. New love. His face softens. He turns his head, then his body.
She’s still looking away. So he looks down, shuffling his feet.
“Hey,” he whispers, breaking the silence.
She looks over her shoulder slightly, wiping away a tear, and returns a “Yeah?”
“I’m…sorry,” he offers, wondering if she’ll even care.
The two words hit her like a waterfall. Her face washes with relief. “I’m sorry too,” she mutters through tears.
He gently steps into her space and embraces her.
She slowly wraps her arms around his neck and squeezes tightly.
Now what does the picture look like?

Forgiveness. Restoration. Hope.
Quite a different picture than the first one.
Your life is not one picture. It’s a series of them. All with small differences. Small choices that lead to who you are becoming and what you’re dreaming.
Turn the page on yesterday, and start drawing that new picture. And then do it again tomorrow, and the next day.
Soon the snapshot of your life will look completely different.
I can’t wait to see where you’re going!
