Consistency

I try to spell the word. And I can’t even do it every time. Shouldn’t the word “constant” be in it? Anyways…I’m not consistent or constant in my spelling of “consistency.”

Thank goodness for spell check.

But it’s not just silly things like spelling. It’s my mental health, my parenting, my eating, my relationships, my work ethic. One day I’m a rock star. The next I’m rock bottom.

Are we the average of our best and worst days? Should we just judge ourselves or others by our worst (you know…”you’re only as strong as your weakest link,” they say)? Or should we judge ourselves by our days we kill it?

Who are we…really?

We are all of it. And that’s why consistency is so important.

We are the good and the bad. We are the average too.

We are a beautiful canvas of the bright and the bold, and the dark and desperate.

Beautiful? How?

Because even the things we struggle with make us who we are. They make us uniquely qualified to help and relate to others wrestling with the same things.

So fight for consistency. (spelled it right the first time!!)

But rejoice in your struggles. Smile for the fact that you’re around to learn something today.

Where you’re going is so much better than where you’ve been.
