Where You're Going

A little of a different post today. This is for all my doubters. All those haters. All those who don’t believe in me:

I’M KIDDING.

I can’t tell you how much support and love I’ve gotten personally over the years even in my darkest moments. And I can’t start to fill one hand with the number of people I truly think “didn’t believe in me.”

And yet…so many people have the opposite experience. I see posts all the time:

“To all the doubters…”

“Nobody believed in me…”

“Thank you to all the haters…”

So what’s going on here? Are there some people that everybody hates on, and some people that everybody loves?

Of course not.

I have a feeling I know what’s happening. It’s all about what you’re looking for.

If you look for every perceived slight, I promise you’ll find it.

If you look for, and depend on the words of those that love you, you’ll find those too.

Enemies exist. They do. Jesus had enemies, and it wasn’t his fault. He was perfect.

But Jesus’ motivation wasn’t to stick it to the Pharisees. His motivation was to complete the mission of the one that loved Him the most: God. And it was to die for the ones He loved the most: you and me.

And as He hung on the cross, He didn’t hang on the cruel words of those that had put Him there. He LONGED for the sweet words of His Father.

So as I search for motivation day-to-day, I don’t think of the hurtful things that hurt people have said to me. I think of the sweet, comforting words that God says about me.

And I think about the kind, compassionate words that those that love God say about me.

My friend, I promise, you will find what you look for.
