John’s why is rather easy. He wants to do this podcast because he’s been in those lowest of the low moments, thinking there was no hope and no way out of the pit.
But his story of finding hope again is worth sharing so others know that where they’re going is better! And God is so much more concerned with where you’re going than where you’ve been!
“Even when you don’t feel worthy… you can find the strength to make something new in your life and go back to battle again,” John says.

On this first official episode of the Where You’re Going Podcast, John talks about:
-Why he stepped into the podcast space with this message
-What his two biggest prayers are for the show
-The story of hitting rock bottom, and the addictions that led to losing his marriage.
Hiding Addiction: “And I knew I couldn’t tell anybody, or at least I felt like I couldn’t tell anybody because then she would know, and then the marriage would be over.”
How He Found Hope in the Darkness: “I didn’t know where to turn. I didn’t know who to talk to. I didn’t know where to start. I didn’t know what my life would look like….I could not see a way forward.”
The Power of Community: “When you are in the lowest of lows or you’re in any kind of low moment in your life, you cannot isolate. You’ve got to get around other people.”
The Power of Forgiveness: “Although they may be visually, very publicly way off the rails, it might come back to you, it might come back to your heart posture.”
-John sets up the next few shows where they’ll talk about Identity and Worthiness with Jeremy Baus and Heart Posture with Eric Sommerhauser
